Nozzle Remanufacture Program

Weld Tip offers a nozzle remanufacturing program that allows users of the Gega style flat seat nozzle to salvage all but the most severely damaged nozzles. Return the nozzle with a plastic thread protector, (this can be supplied by Weld Tip), and Weld Tip will ensure that:

 

1. Acid clean to remove any internal build up or scale

2. Remachine the tip face and seating areas

3. Clean and chase the threads

4. Inspect and remachine the center orifice through bore and diverge

5. Clean and inspect, using a light table under magnification, all preheat ports and cross mixing chambers.

6. Functional test

7. Post-test, clean and polish

 

The Weld Tip remanufacture program includes the complete re-working of the center hole and the diverge. By doing this we have the ability to provide more machined stock from the tip face than previously allowed. Weld Tip will maintain the proper "jet length" and diverge angle ratio to assure optimum cutting characteristics while allowing multiple re-facing operations. This process allows us to extend the life of the tip many times longer than a conventional re-condition.

 

Weld Tip will recondition any manufacturers nozzle and will guarantee the remanufactured nozzle to perform as new. This program has been widely utilized and is highly successful in steel mills throughout the world.

 

Routine cleaning is always possible in the machine with a wire brush and tip cleaners. Nozzles that require more extensive cleaning, usually after several weeks' use, can be cleaned in a dilute phosphorus acid solution submerged for 8-12 hours.

 

NOTE: ALWAYS USE CAUTION WHEN HANDLING ANY ACID SOLUTION

 

Cleaning with warm water and clean air after soaking will suffice for light contaminants. Other nozzle manufacturers only recommend routine in-house cleaning that will not remove medium to heavy slag build-up nor repair any minor damage to the seating surfaces, face or threads. Reconditioning that only cleans and polishes the nozzle will not gaurantee seat integrity. It is also critical that the center of the cutting oxygen diverge is remachined after any facing in order for the proper cutting characteristics to be achieved by the nozzle. As a provider of flat seat nozzles, Weld Tip will ensure the nozzle is remachined to original manufacturers specifications and performance. All nozzles are remachined, reseated, rediverge, and function fully under a flame test.
